한 학생이 이멜로 질문한것을 여기 답합니다.
51. Jean: Studies show that professional engineers whose
first job assignment is highly challenging tend to
perform more successfully on subsequent assignments
over the next five years than do engineers whose first
assignment is less challenging. Presumably, high-
challenge tasks lead engineers to develop professional
skills that serve to raise their performance level on
subsequent assignments.
Pat: But perhaps engineers who are given challenging
first assignments are precisely those who are judged to
be most able.
Which of the following, if true, would be the strongest
counter for Jean to make to Pat's objection?
(A) Among engineers judged to be equally able, those
whose first assignment is highly challenging
perform more successfully on subsequent
assignments than do those whose first
assignment is less challenging.
(B) Even some of the engineers whose first
assignment is not very challenging nevertheless
develop their professional skills through
performing that assignment.

문제가 pat의 반론(objection)에 jean 이 쓸 수있는 가장 좋은 반격이
무엇이냐고 했습니다.
Jean의 얘기는 어려운 일을 하는 사람들이 나중에도 더 일을 잘한다였구여
Pat의 얘기는 맨 처음 어려운 일을 맡은 사람이 원래 일을 잘 하는사람이었다는거구여
즉. Jean의 argument: more challenging job --> increases one's performance level.
Pat은 Jean의 assumption을 공략했습니다. 어려운 일을 맡는 사람과 쉬운일을 맡은 사람이
performance level이 같다는 assumption을요. 같지 않을 수 도 있다고 말이져.
그래서 Jean은 아니다. 맨 처음 시작할때 performance level이 같았다고
assumption이 true 라고 못 막으면서 반론을 counter하고 있습니다.
그래서 답이 A입니다.
